Have you ever found yourself in a daydream without realizing you slipped away?

Dhyana ( Meditation ) is like a daydream, on purpose.

Dhyana is the 7th of 8 limbs of Raja Yoga,

it is the meditative state of consciousness that emerges from Dharana

the 8th limb  Samadhi  is an extended state of this meditative practice

Asana is the 3rd limb of Yoga, and prepares the body and mind for Dharana, Dhyana & Samadhi

Dhyana is uninterrupted flow of mind toward an object

One direction  --  not drifting

Becoming a state of awareness with Self and everything

A wave realizing it is the ocean
Thich Nhat Hanh

With practice, meditation becomes an effortless slip into another form of consciousness, like falling awake into a space that is clear and connected

As a state the body and mind shift into,

willing this subtle transition from

an alert active state to an alert dream state

necessitates

persistent effort ( abhyasa )
detachment to results ( vairagya )
patience, learning ( swadhyaya )
faith, surrender ( shraddha )
